It is known as Brazil's Ecological capitol because of its 52 Sq. Meters (560 Sq. Ft.) of green space per inhabitant. Foreign investment in 1997 was in the area of $5.9 billion US with Renault, Volkswagon-Audi, Chrysler and other Detroit plants being foremost. The cultural aspects include a variety of museums, botanical gardens and theaters.
